How Many Types of Hydraulic Hose Adapters?

The hydraulic hose fittings are used to connect the pipe and hose that run between the different parts of the hydraulic system and transmit hydraulic power to another device. Depending on the various connection types, hydraulic hose fittings are classified into different categories. The standards of these hose fittings on machinery are set by the Society of Automated Engineers (SAE), such like SAE adapter NPTF, SAE adapter JIC 37°, SAE adapter ORFS flat seal, SAE adapter o'ring seal on the market.

These are the different categories:

1.O-Ring fitting

They resemble an "O" with many threads that are screwed into the pipe or the hose fitting to ensure a secure connection. O'ring adapters can be male or female and can include a face seal, flat-faced or flange type. They are able to hold a pressure of about 2500 to 3000 psi.

2.Flareless fitting

Flareless fittings have a ferrule body that tightens on to the fitting nut and compresses the tube in a way that it penetrates the outer diameter of the tube and seals it. They can withstand a pressure of about 3000 psi.

3.Elbow fitting

Elbow hydraulic hose fittings are available in different sizes which are commonly 45 degrees for both male and female along with 37 and 90 degrees. Obviously, both ends of this fitting can connect to the hose at the designated angle.

4.Flanges

Flanges are used for those kinds of tube fittings that are larger than an inch in size. Torque power as well as large wrenches is needed to tighten these types of fittings. Split-flange fittings are different because they generally use O-rings to seal a connection.

5.Steel fittings

Steel fittings are very common fittings that are being used in the hydraulic systems, they consist of aluminium adapter, brass adapter and SAE stainless steel adapter.
